James J. Mahr

James J. Mahr, 89 of Allentown passed away on May 6, 2026 at Rittenhouse Village Assisted Living.

 

He was born in Allentown, son of the late Joseph and Emily (Hill) Mahr.

 

James graduated from William Allen High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Marines and served 3 years in the Military.

 

He was an electrician for IBEW Local Union 375 retiring after 35 years.

 

He was known for his love of card tricks, telling jokes, gambling and horse racing.

 

He loved his family and especially his two grandchildren.

 

After retirement he enjoyed spending time with friends, meeting at local diners for breakfast.  He also

enjoyed trips to Florida to visit his best friend, an ex-Marine buddy Don Bermis.

 

He is survived by his son Jeffrey R. Mahr of Gracedale, daughter Lori A, Parton wife of Todd Parton of Salisbury Township, grandsons Troy L. Parton and Chad J. Parton; niece Lisa Rice, nephew Stephen Kotran of NY; nephew Greg Romig husband  of Renee of Macungie Twp.   Predeceased by a son James J. Mahr and sister RoseMarie Kotran.

 

Graveside Service with Military Honors on Friday,  May 29, 2026 at 11AM  at Cedar Hill Memorial

Park Cemetery    (Section GMC) in Allentown.  Following the service family and friends are invited to the  P.J. Whelihan’s Pub and Restaurants  3395 High Point Boulevard Bethlehem, PA  18107.  Funeral arrangements by the Sell-Herron Funeral Home Allentown. www.HerronFuneralHomeCares.com
