John Constantinos Hrousis, 86, of Stewartsville, NJ, passed away on December 26, 2025.
John was born on February 24, 1939, to Constantinos and Kalliope (Karathanasis) Hrousis in Pagondas, Samos, Greece.
He was the husband of Eva (Michalitsianos) Hrousis. John and Eva celebrated 62 years of marriage on December 1,2025.
He was a residential building contractor for his entire life. He owned and operated the family business, Samos Construction, founded by his father.
A faithful member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Easton, PA, John served on the Parish Council, was a Cantor, sang in the Church Choir, and helped with the annual church festivals. John, along with his father and sons, completed many renovations and building improvements for the church, including the installation of iconography. Additionally, he was instrumental in renovating the church in his hometown of Pagondas, Samos, Greece, and at Holy Protection Monastery in White Haven, PA.
John was known for his inventive creations around the house. He loved all types of music, from church music to classical to classic rock. He enjoyed singing melodies to Greek folk songs as Eva harmonized along. John relished vacation time with the family at the Jersey shore, holidays in Buffalo, NY, and trips to Disney World. Every year, John would take the whole family to Astoria, NY, for the annual St. Irene Chrysovoalantou feast day festival. At the end of many days, John could be found sitting at the kitchen table, happily cutting fruit for the whole family.
John is survived by his wife, Eva Hrousis; his daughters, Kalliope Hrousis Disakias (Sal Selletto) and Irene (Ereni Sevasti) Rosenthal, wife of Marc; his sons, Constantinos (Costas) Hrousis and his wife Despina, and Evangelos (Angelo) Hrousis; his six grandchildren, Aspasia Sue Disakias, Kristina Disakias, Gianni Hrousis, Petros Hrousis, Evanthia (Vanna) Hrousis, and Eva E.
