Amalia G. Roufakis

Amalia G. Roufakis, 75, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem Campus, on March 10, 2026.

Born in Chios, Greece, on July 13, 1950, Daughter of the late Isidoros and Maria (Xenakis) Vergete.

Amalia immigrated to the United States in 1963 with her Aunt and Uncle, Evangelos and Despina Roufakis. In 1968, she returned to Greece, where she married the love of her life, the late Pantelis “Peter” Roufakis. Together they shared many loving years of marriage and built a life centered on faith and family.

She was a devoted member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Bethlehem and was active in the church community. Amalia was a member of the St. Nicholas Seniors, the Daughters of Penelope, the Philoptochos, and  a member of St. Markella Society, where she enjoyed fellowship and spending time with friends.

Amalia worked as an assembler at B. Braun Medical for over 17 years until her retirement.

Amalia is survived by her loving daughter, Effie Roufakis; her beloved grandchildren, Marianna and Georgia; her sister, Athina Triantafillakis, of Chios, Greece; her brother-in-law, Vaggelis Roufakis, also of Chios, Greece; as well as several nieces and nephews in Greece. She will be lovingly remembered by her friends and family here and in Greece.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Stella Gialias.

A viewing will be held Monday March 16, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Tuesday March 17, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM, all at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1607 West Union Blvd., Bethlehem, PA 18018.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral or to the St. Markella Society with checks made payable to Northern Chios.
