Chandrachud Jayantilal Dave, lovingly known as Chandra, Pappa, and Dada, passed away on February 2, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, at the age of 82. He was born on February 16, 1943, in Ahmedabad, India.
Chandra’s life was built on resilience, humility, and quiet strength. He grew up in Ahmedabad under difficult circumstances, away from his birth parents, and was raised by his mother’s uncle and aunt. The aunt he loved most shaped him into the man he became—hardworking, honest, and deeply humble. From a young age, he learned to make the best of what he had, and he carried that lesson with him for the rest of his life.
In his early adult years, Chandra devoted himself to caring for his mother’s uncle, who was severely ill and dependent for more than a decade. After marrying his beloved wife, Kalyani, they continued this caregiving together. Six years into their marriage, at the age of 42, they were blessed with their only son, Sagar. From that day on, Chandra lived for his son, always focused on giving him the best possible future—a love that only grew deeper when he became a proud grandfather to Siddhartha and Nyra.
Chandra began his workaholic career in India working for a bank, where he spent many years and retired at the age of 58 as a branch manager. But his journey of hard work was far from over. Later in life, he immigrated to the United States to create a better future for his son and worked tirelessly in multiple jobs, never caring about the nature of the work. He often said he would work as long as his arms and legs allowed him to, and he truly lived by those words.
At 69, Chandra survived a major heart attack and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and diabetes. He faced these challenges with courage and determination for 13 years. After many hard-fought battles, he finally passed on February 2, 2026.
Chandra was loving, simple, and independent to his core. According to his daughter-in-law, Nehal, He could brighten anyone’s day with just a smile. He believed in and lived to giving without expecting, and in living by the idea that “less is more.” He enjoyed watching cricket and tennis, listening to ghazals, and providing for his family, but most of all he was famously passionate about saving money.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kalyani; his son, Sagar; his daughter-in-law, Nehal; and his cherished grandchildren, Siddhartha and Nyra.
Chandra’s life was a quiet lesson in love, sacrifice, and perseverance—and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.
