John F. “Jay-O” Ortwein, Jr., 64 of Allentown passed away on October 17, 2025 in St. Luke’s Hospital-Allentown Campus.
John was the husband of Donna M. (Schmidt) Ortwein, they would have been married 39 years on December 24th.
John was born in Bethlehem on February 16, 1961 son of Janet (Laslo) Ortwein and the late John F. Ortwein, Sr.
Jay-O was the owner of Jay-O Sportswear, a family business which he continued after his father’s retirement. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Allentown.
He graduated from Dieruff High School in 1979. He played baseball and football for different leagues throughout his young life.
He loved fishing, golfing, music, the New York Jets Football team and going to his family’s cabin at Lake Wallenpaupack. Jay-O was a proud grandfather who deeply loved his wife, children and grandchildren.
Survivors: His wife Donna, sons Christopher T. Schafer and Justin F. Ortwein, daughters Tammy Eisenhard wife of Jeff, Lea Ann Wyrick wife of Jonathan L. and Melissa L. Smith wife of Shawn; nine beloved grandchildren Alexis, Rachel, Caleb, Kaylen, Nathan, Arabella, Christian, Lacey And Ava; sisters Frances Bach and Brenda Ortwein. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
