Sandra Hernandez, 79, of Allentown passed away at her home on May 17, 2026. Sandra was born September 2, 1946 in York, PA to David W. Sr. and Thelma V. (Little) Sangrey.
Â
After moving to Allentown in her teens, Sandra built a beautiful and fulfilling life. Sandy, as she was known by those who knew and loved her, had a zest for life and a way of making everyone feel welcome and at home. Her hospitable nature shone brightly in her early years working as a server at Barone’s and The Brass Rail, where she made friends that became family. Sandy had an unforgettable style that was perfected during her lengthy career in retail at Stein Mart and BonTon and remained with her long after retirement. When she wasn’t at work, Sandy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends doing the things that made her the happiest; playing cards at the kitchen table, hosting barbecues, trips to the casino, and afternoons spent sipping wine at her favorite spot. Sandy’s love of trying new things and being surrounded by friends, led her to join the Red Hat Society, with whom she spent many years making memories and lasting friendships. Sandy will forever be remembered for the kindness she showed to others and the joyful exuberance with which she lived her life.
Â
Sandra leaves behind her loving husband of 49 years, Pedro Hernandez, her children; sons, Todd (Sheri) Hernandez and Peter (Sarah) Hernandez, and daughter, Valerie (Cisco) Rivera. Sandra will be dearly missed by her grandchildren; Brendan, Jenessa and her husband, Jordan, Cisco and his fiancé, Tajei, Keira, Nolan, Reagan, Isaias, and Leo.
