Francis T. Stone Jr., 87, of Bethlehem, died Oct. 25 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Francis T. Stone Sr. and the late Emily (Palmer) Stone. He taught at Brooklyn Polytechnic University before joining AT & T Bell Laboratories, for which he worked for many years. He was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Lehigh Valley, Bethlehem for almost 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan (Pfeifer); his son Peter C. of Dublin, Ireland, and his wife, Heike; his son Michael F. of Chester Springs, and his wife, Paula; his daughter Sarah E. of Bethlehem, and her husband, Phil; and his three grandsons, Daniel, Julian, and Grant. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a widely-read intellectual, a genial conversationalist, and a kind and generous friend. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1st at the John F. Herron Funeral Home, 458 Center at Market Street, Bethlehem. My heartfelt condolences to the Stone family. I have fond recollections of Frank the few times I met him and can see where Peter gained so many of his wonderful qualities.
