Michael Louis Dontas

With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Michael Louis Dontas, who entered eternal peace on June 27, 2026, at the age of 47, surrounded by his family. Michael was born on April 23, 1979, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to Lambros and Barbara (Kondoleon) Dontas. He was proud of his Greek heritage and his family’s roots on the island of Xios.  His faith, love of family, and connection to his culture were at the heart of the life he lived.

A graduate of Liberty High School ‘97, Michael was a scholar-athlete and member of the National Honors Society. He continued his education at Fairfield University, graduating cum laude in 2001 while helping the Fairfield Stags football team capture a MAAC Championship. Together with his cousin, Michael P. Dontas (Senior), he  founded Copperhead Grille and Utopita Fresh Mediterranean. Michael was an avid golfer and proud member of the Saucon Valley Country Club. He was a respected leader, mentor, member of the community, and friends who believed in lifting others up and making everyone feel valued.

Michael generously gave back to his community through various charitable foundations and churches in the United States and Greece. He was an active member of the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association, National Restaurant Association, Northern Chios Society of Pelineon “Agia Markella” and the Kambia Xios Society. Michael was dedicated to coaching youth sports with Lehigh Little League and faithfully worshiped at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

Above all, Michael cherished his family. He was a devoted husband to Emmanuella Dontas and a loving father to Varvara and Lambros, who were the greatest blessings of his life. He is survived by his beloved parents, Lambros and Barbara Dontas; his sisters, Georgia Dontas and Keri Filipos, her husband Teddy, together with their children, Stamatia, Michael, and Lambros. He is also survived by his in-laws, Christos and Argyro Giampilis; his sister- and brother-in-laws: Sophia and Hector Mavromatis, their daughters, Angelina and Argyro; Michael and Despina Giampilis, their children, Argyro, Christos, and Valantis; Rita and John Stakias, their children, Stamatis and Christos. Michael is further survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, Godchild, extended family members and dear friends.

Michael will be remembered for his gentle spirit, warm smile, generous heart, quiet humility, and unwavering kindness. He touched countless lives through his compassion, faith, and selfless devotion to others. His legacy of love and generosity will be carried forward by his family and forever treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in our hearts.
